Principal’s Message

Greetings Pilot family!

My name is Dr. Amber McKinney-Shivers the proud Principal of Curtiss Middle School. As an alumnus of Curtiss Middle School and a community resident, it is a privilege to continue my work in fostering positive learning experiences for all students at Curtiss Middle School.

My vision supports the LAUSD Strategic Plan, preparing our students to be Ready for the World. Curtiss Middle School is the GEM of Carson. At Curtiss Middle School we are preparing our students to be PILOTS; Purposeful, Innovative, Leaders that are Optimistic, Transcendent Scholars.

I am excited for this new year. If we all work together as a team, I know we can achieve great things. I look forward to meeting each of you!

We at Glenn Hammond Curtiss MS will immerse our students in an instructional program centered in engineering, interdisciplinary problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking while increasing their exposure to science, engineering and design, the arts, and leadership opportunities.
