Medieval World History (7th) & Intro to AVID (6th)
Warm greetings! I’m delighted to be your child’s middle school history and/or AVID teacher this year. I began my journey as an educator in 2008, and ever since, I’ve had the privilege of teaching middle school students—a role that truly energizes and inspires me every day.
7th Grade Medieval World History:
Together, we will develop the skills to think and write like historians. This means learning to:
- Ask meaningful questions about who, what, when, where, and especially why historical events occurred.
- Evaluate primary and secondary sources critically.
- Construct clear, evidence-based arguments through engaging writing and thoughtful discussion.
In our classroom, your child will learn to see the past through multiple lenses, develop curiosity-driven inquiry, and communicate ideas with clarity and confidence. My goal is that by the end of the year, each student will not only gain deeper insights into history, but also sharpen skills like analysis, empathy, and persuasive writing—tools that serve well beyond the classroom walls.
6th Grade Intro to AVID:
AVID(Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a college‑readiness system aimed at supporting students who show academic potential but may need extra encouragement and strategies to reach their goals. AVID help students develop essential skills—writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading (WICOR) that not only strengthen their academic performance but also build confidence and self‑advocacy .
The goal? To raise expectations, bridge opportunity gaps, and empower students to see college as a realistic and achievable path for their future.
I’m excited to partner with you this year. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the curriculum, how your child is progressing, or how we can support their learning together.
Looking forward to a thoughtful, engaging, and meaningful year ahead!
